Psychologist Kathryn McEwen (Work with Resilience) defines resilience as:

An individual’s capacity to manage the everyday stress of work and remain healthy, rebound and learn from unexpected setbacks and prepare for future challenges proactively.

We often hear the work “bounce back” in relation to resilience yet, it is more than that. We can see resilience as:

Bouncing Back – recovery, healing and repair

Bouncing With – coping with and adjusting to change

Bouncing Forward – transformation and growth, adapting to a new way of operating
